Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Light & Pigment (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit lightandpigment.com (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Light & Pigment publishes paint color guides built from colors measured in public-domain paintings. You can contact us at [contact email].

Information we collect

You can use the Site without telling us who you are. We do not offer user accounts, comments, newsletters or contact forms, and we do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.

Server logs. Like almost every website, our hosting server automatically records basic technical information when a page is requested: your IP address, browser type, the page you visited, the referring page and the date and time. These logs are used only to keep the Site secure and working, and are deleted by our hosting provider on a rolling basis.

Cookies. The Site itself does not set cookies for visitors. WordPress sets cookies only for site administrators who log in. Fonts and images are served from our own server, so viewing a page does not send your data to font or image services.

[Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site, such as which pages are viewed and how visitors arrive. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your IP address (shortened before storage), device and browser type, and pages visited. We do not use this data to identify you. You can learn more at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.]

[Advertising. We show ads served by Google and its partners. These companies may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized ads at https://adssettings.google.com. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.]

Pinterest

Pages on the Site include a “Save to Pinterest” link. It is a plain link: no Pinterest code runs on the Site, and nothing is sent to Pinterest unless you click it. After you click, Pinterest’s own privacy policy applies: https://policy.pinterest.com/privacy-policy.

We use the Pinterest API only to publish our own Pins to our own Pinterest account. We do not collect, store or share any data about Pinterest users, and we do not access anyone else’s Pinterest account.

How we create content

Colors on the Site are measured from public-domain images published by museums such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. Some page texts are written with the help of AI tools. No visitor information is ever sent to these services.

How we use and share information

We use the limited information described above only to run, secure and improve the Site. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it except with service providers who help us run the Site (such as our hosting provider and, if listed above, analytics and advertising partners), or when required by law.

Links to other websites

The Site links to museums, paint brands and other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Paint brand names belong to their owners, and Light & Pigment is not affiliated with any paint brand.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the European Union and United Kingdom, or under California law), you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or restrict its use. Because we collect very little information and cannot normally link it to a person, there is usually nothing to retrieve, but you can write to [contact email] and we will reply within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the Site handles information, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
